Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger are "really enjoying" their engagement.

The singer-songwriter met the Nickelback frontman while the two collaborated on a track for her upcoming fifth studio album.

The Canadian rockers have been discreetly dating for six months and are in no rush to head to the altar.

"They haven't set a date. They're really enjoying this moment," a friend of Avril's revealed to People magazine.

Chad proposed earlier this month with a 14-carat diamond ring.

The couple's family and friends are thrilled about the news.

"They have the same values and really understand each other," a family source enthused. "They complement each other and are so happy."

Chad knew he was falling for Avril while working with her. He fondly remembers their time in the studio.

"I knew I was falling for her," he gushed to the Canadian edition of Hello! "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."

This will be the first marriage for Chad. Avril divorced Sum 41 musician Deryck Whibley in 2009.
