Beyonc Knowles keen to impress Oprah

24th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Beyonc Knowles put extra effort into preparing her performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show because she has "so much respect" for her.

The iconic show has been on screens for 25 years, although it is coming to an end with the final episodes airing this week. Last night a special star-studded episode of the programme featured Tom Cruise, Halle Berry, Madonna, and a performance from R&B songstress Beyonc, who performed her latest single Run the World (Girls) dressed in a tuxedo bodysuit and backed up by an all-female dance troupe.

According to Beyonc's choreographer, Frank Gatson Jr., the singer and all her team pushed themselves to the limit out of respect for host Oprah.

"It's amazing. Me, myself, Beyonc, people of colour we have so much respect for that woman," he told MTV.

"How can we say no to [Oprah]? She possesses something that God has given her, 'cause when I saw her onstage, of all the people that were there, everyone's in awe of her Tom Cruise, Halle Berry, Madonna so we felt honoured, privileged.

"That's why Beyonc pushed us so hard. She wanted to make sure that Oprah's proud of what she did for her show. She did such an important number."

Madonna is one of the other strong women who admires Oprah so much. She told the audience how much she has learnt from the presenter, gushing that she is in awe of Oprah's kindness and strength.

"It is no secret that millions of people have been inspired by Oprah and I'm one of those people," she beamed.

"She fights for things she believes in even if it makes her unpopular. She has balls and a wealth of compassion, I have learned so much from her,

"She's been a self-made woman who has been on top of her game for over 25 years and she is still kicking ass!"

The penultimate episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show airs today and the final will go out tomorrow. (C) Cover Media
