January 13, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Rosahn, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, and many more, all together 20 hot-shots of Bollywood are coming together to walk the ramp on January 23 for a noble cause. The fashion show will collect the money and donate it to the education of girl-child in Mijwan, a small village in Uttar Pradesh.
The Mijwan Welfare Society (MJW) was spearheaded by the dynamic lyricist, poet and activist Kaifi Azmi, the father of Shabana Azmi. Now the actress - activist has taken up the project and has decided to give as much boost as possible in the education for girl-child. Azmi has said that not more than Rs.6,000 is needed to educate a girl in Mijwan in a year and now she wants to continue the efforts that Kaifi Azmi had put in while he was alive.
Hrithik Roshan said that walking and supporting such causes enriches him as a human being as it sensitizes him to the needs of the others who are less fortunate than him. On the other hand Ranbir Kapoor has decided to visit Mijwan sometime in April before the summer vacation of the school begins. He feels that this support is a small way of paying tribute to the men like Kaifi Azmi and its time to pay some attention to the rural India as still 80% of the population of the country is still in villages.
The fashion show will be designed by Manish Malhotra and he has promised that all his chikankari works will be outsourced to Mijwan artisans from now. Last year the works of Mijwan artisans was mentioned by designer Anita Dongre.
