Boy George: Mothers will love my album

9th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Boy Georges latest record is the sort of dance music mothers would like.

The British singer is currently promoting his latest record Ordinary Alien, which is his first album in ten years. He has been surprised to hear many expected the record to contain crazy tunes or hardcore dance music, which he puts down to his time as a DJ.

George real name George ODowd insists the record has much broader appeal, and thinks people of all ages will enjoy listening to it.

The new album is a dance album, it relates to what I do as a DJ. Its still pop, its pop music in a dance format, he explained. Its laidback dance so your mum would like it, its not banging. Its been described as quite chill out.

In 2009, the star served four months of a 15-month sentence for the assault and false imprisonment of a male escort in his London apartment. Prison changed him, although at the time he didnt realise what an effect it was having on him.

He admits finding the first two days inside incredibly hard, but after that he managed to settle in. The star had a job in the kitchen which he enjoyed, and although he did experience some bullying it didnt impact him greatly.

I think when youre going through it youre not analysing it, its not something you really think about because day to day you never know whats going to happen its a very unpredictable experience, he told Sky News.

I had a good job there, I worked in the kitchen and people who do that in prison are quite calm because they wont let idiots be around knives. So you get quite a good type of person in the kitchen, they were all fun to work with. To star with the first 48 hours are definitely not pleasant, then you have to acclimatise and accept thats where you are otherwise you drive yourself crazy. (C) Cover Media
