Brad Pitt reportedly spent "thousands" on paintings during a recent trip to Germany.

The actor is known for his keen interest in art and is said to have picked out some modern pieces for his French chateaux in the city of Kassel.

The Hollywood star is currently residing in the UK, so spent 30,000 on a private plane to jet over to the European country.

"Brad loves art and he showed his dedication to the cause with the trip. He had a day off from reshooting scenes for his new film, World War Z, and decided to head to Germany," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "On top of the cost of the flight, he spent thousands on paintings and asked for them to be sent straight to his French chateaux."

Meanwhile, it has also been revealed that Brad and his fiance Angelina Jolie have been splashing out on home dcor to please their six children.

The parents are believed to have gone on a shopping spree in famous London department store Harrods to "kit out" their temporary Richmond base with Harry Potter merchandise for their brood.
