Britney Spears: I avoid the spotlight

3rd March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britney Spears admits shes more guarded than she used to be, as she craves privacy.

The singer has made a conscious effort to stay out of the limelight since her 2008 meltdown. She was put under a psychiatric hold and lost custody of her two sons Sean Preston, now five, and Jayden James who is four. Although Britney has got her life back on track she is still under a conservatorship, with her father in charge of her personal and professional life.

She is currently promoting her new record Femme Fatale which is out later this month, and admits shes a different person to when she started in the industry in 1998.

A little bit, she replied, when asked if shes more guarded now. I think its easier to let people in when youre younger, but when I became a mother I wanted more privacy for myself and my children. A life away from my life.

I try to block it all out and not pay attention to anything [people] say about me. Im done with that.

The 29-year-old loves making music, and enjoys hearing from fans who relate to her tracks. However, if she wasnt in the industry she would also be happy, as shed just spend all her time with her family.

I love making new music for my fans, I love performing for my fans, and most importantly, I love my fans. I am so lucky to have their support. They drive me, she told V magazine.

Id be a full-time mom which would be cool [if I wasnt doing this]. Id miss my fans and all of the love the most, but I definitely would not miss having my picture taken everywhere I go. I wouldnt miss showering in arenas either. So gross!

Asked what one thing she wants people to know, Britney replied: That the b***h is back and better than ever!

She is fiercely proud of her new record, which she thinks is her most accomplished work to date. The singer states several of the tracks are revolutionary, and show how she has grown both as an artist and a woman.

I worked really hard on it and spent almost two years recording it. I think its the best album I have ever made. Theres nothing to say. Ill let the music speak for me, she told the magazine.

I wanted to make a fierce dance record where each song makes you want to get up and move your body in a different way. Thats what I want from the music I listen to. This record is for the clubs, or something you play before you go out at night. Its definitely my edgiest and most mature sound yet. (C) Cover Media
