Censor Board now targets Nitya Mehra's 'Baar Baar Dekho'

30th August 2016

CBFC is quiet in news after it denied certification for Anurag Kashyap's film 'Udta Punjab.' The saga continued then after as many films were suggested to make major cuts after which the censor certificate was granted. Now the censor board has marched their footsteps towards Nitya Mehra's film 'Baar Baar Dekho' starring Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif.

According to a daily, "the movie was refused certification until they removed a naughty reference to Savita Bhabhi, a popular porn comic character, and 'an offensive shot of a woman's brasserie'. After adhering to the demands, the movie has received a UA certificate."

A source informs, "We don't live in times where women's inner wear is never spoken of in public. In fact, even as late as 1995, there was a scene featuring Kajol in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Moreover, BBD is directed by a woman (Nitya Mehra). To assume she'd use the lingerie scene for titillation is absurd. We were asked to delete the reference. The name is used in a light-hearted manner in the film. If a porn reference is objectionable, how was Sunny Leone's name used in A Flying Jatt?"
