Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming film 'Soorma' is a film based on the real life of Indian hockey legend captain Sandeep Singh who made an inspiring dream comeback after meeting with a tragic accident. Diljit got the opportunity to get under the skin of such a prestigious role and so much of sweat, dedication and hard work went on for the preparation of this role.
The poster has Diljit plastered sitting off in a wheelchair portraying the dark phase of Sandeep Singh's life. Whereas the background has him roaring with the hockey stick in hand and sweat splashing all over. This Soorma poster reflects determination and devotion of India's charismatic living legend in the field of Hockey and Diljit does it with sheer acting prowess.
The 34-year-old went through intense physical training and diet changes to prep for the role. Speaking about this the actor said, "It has been challenging to portray a hockey player on screen. I have engaged in a sport in my life for the first time. It was Sandeep’s motivation and guidance that helped me pick up the intricacies of the game."
Whereas the real-life Hockey Hero Sandeep Singh stated,"It was assuring to learn that Diljit will be playing me on screen. I have complete confidence in his skill and understanding of the craft. My training sessions with Diljit further strengthened my belief that he’ll do justice to my life's story. His ability as an athlete also impressed me during our training sessions together."
The film also stars Taapsee Pannu who plays Diljit's love interest in the film. Helmed by Shaad Ali, Soorma is set to release on July 13, 2018.
