(Cover) - EN Star Style - Cher has revealed her extravagant dress sense came as a result of rebelling against Oscar bosses.

The 64-year-old has had a hugely successful career as both a singer and an actress, and is just as well known for her eccentric sense of style.

Cher has now confessed her love for pushing fashion boundaries stemmed from wanting to make a statement to organisers of the prestigious movie awards ceremony.

Cher won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988 for the film Moonstruck, although she says a few years earlier she wasnt nominated for a different film shed made called Mask, when she thought she should have been. When pals told her it may have been because of her wild outfits, the star decided to go all out and really shock at that years ceremony.

I didn't get nominated one year for a movie I thought I might get nominated for, called Mask," explained the star. Someone told me, 'The reason you didn't get nominated is because the Academy doesn't take you seriously because you don't dress seriously. So that year I had a huge feather Mohawk and an Indian dress. I just wanted to show them how I felt about that. That is my favourite dress for a number of reasons."

The star continues to wear a variety of revealing and flamboyant outfits to this day, and is praised for her stunning good looks and athletic frame. (C) Cover Media
