Actor Chiyaan Vikram, who has changed his style of working and decided to do more films in a year, is now busy with "Karikalan", directed by Kannan.

The young filmmaker rules out the rumor that it's going to be the usual warrior film. He explains, "It will be along the lines of Gladiator and Troy. The movie is a socio-fantasy subject which will be new to Tamil audiences".The port city of Kaveripoompattinam and the business hub Uraiyur are carefully being recreated," informs the director. "With the help of special effects and other references, I want to take audiences back 2000 years to the era of Karikal Cholan. Besides Vikram, no one would have done justice to the protagonist's role of Karikal Cholan", says the animatronics specialist, Kannan.  Chiyaan will sizzle with three heroines Zarine Khan, Mithra Kurien and Radhika Apte in this period film.

Also joining the existing heroines of the film will be Anjali, the 'Angadi Theru' and 'Katradhu Thamizh' girl, who will be seen playing a warrior and as a leader of a group. Confirming this, the actress, whose last film in Tamil is 'Thambi Vettothi Sundaram', says, "Yes, after getting convinced with my performance as a bold girl in "Engeyum Eppodhum", director Kannan has roped me in for "Karikalan." Happy about sharing the screen space with Chiyaan, she says, "Only recently I had an opportunity to act with Ajith (in 'Mankatha'). It's a delight with act with Vikram now, who is another top star of Tamil film industry. I am a huge fan of his movies."

Anjali will be learning martial arts and horse riding for the movie, since her role requires her to be part of some stunt sequences too. "A challenging task is ahead and I am hopeful of giving my best to it," she says.

Music composer G V Prakash and actor Vikram are excited that they are working together again with director Vijay. Sources say the music of the film to be composed by G V Prakash "Karikalan"  will be high on visual effects. As it's a period flick that features the man who built the first dam in India, the tunes and instruments used will be in accordance to the time frame in which the story occurs.

"The film will set new standards in Kollywood as far as special effects are concerned. With my experience working in various movies, including "Enthiran", I have given nothing but the best for "Karikalan". Get ready for a time machine journey soon," Kannan concludes.
