Chris Brown: I'm not quitting music

2nd July 2012

Chris Brown has been forced to dismiss reports he is retiring.

The American singer scooped the Best Male R&B Artist prize at last night's BET Awards, held at the Shine Auditorium in Los Angeles. During his acceptance speech he seemingly confirmed he is planning to leave the music business.

"I'd like to thank Team Breezy [his fans], everybody who worked on any one of my albums," he said.

"My last album that's coming out in two days... I just want to thank all my fans. It's dedicated to y'all. This one's for y'all, man, I appreciate everything."

Chris was talking about his new record Fortune and his representative was quick to tell MTV News the star's words had been misconstrued.

As he finished the new songs several months ago, he simply meant it is the last album he has worked on.

Chris was at the centre of more rumours last night, after speculation he had been arrested for gun possession at the music ceremony swept across the internet.

People began to post claims the police had taken the star into custody on Twitter, with further allegations Drake may have been involved.

The two music stars got into a nightclub brawl recently, seemingly over Chris' ex-girlfriend Rihanna who Drake has also dated.

There were online claims Chris was carrying a weapon in case any trouble erupted with Drake, but they were incorrect.

Gossipcop.com contacted the singer's representative who insisted he hadn't been arrested. "Nothing of the sort happened," the spokesperson said.
