(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Firth was so overwhelmed by winning an Oscar he reportedly almost left the statuette in a toilet.

The 50-year-old British star was named best actor at the Academy Awards on Sunday for his performance in The Kings Speech. In the movie, Colin plays Britains King George VI, the monarch who overcomes his stutter with the help of a speech therapist.

The actor was celebrating his success by attending several lavish parties when he almost forgot the prize. Colin had placed the 8lb. trophy on top of the cistern as he was using the lavatory at the Vanity Fair bash. As he returned to the party, a member of staff spotted the Oscar and called after the star who hastily retrieved it.

Everyone was trying to buy him drinks, a source told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. He may be 50 but he knows how to party and was determined to make the most of the occasion.

Earlier in the evening Colin and his wife Livia enjoyed themselves at the Latin-themed Governors Ball. They happily partied with a host of stars, including best actress Oscar winner Natalie Portman. Colin then went to the Vanity Fair bash and was spotted laughing and joking with Oscar hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco. He was seen showing off his dance moves as he twirled around with his prized trophy. The star finished his evening at Harvey Weinsteins private party, where he was reunited with the cast and crew of The Kings Speech. (C) Cover Media
