Colin Firth worried about film swearing

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Firth is worried he might have attracted the scorn of Britains Queen Elizabeth II as he swears so much while portraying her father in his latest film.

The British actor plays King George VI, the current queens father, in The Kings Speech. The narrative portrays King Georges unexpected rise to the throne and his battle to overcome a stammer with the help of a speech therapist.

In one scene during the movie, George unleashes a torrent of swear words in an effort to deal with the speech impediment. It is that moment in the film that has Colin, 50, feeling embarrassed.

While I dont have a problem with what is said, it crossed my mind that the Queen - the daughter of George VI - might watch The Kings Speech and be taken aback at seeing her late father swearing as much as he does, the actor told British newspaper the Daily Mail. But then I am conscious of anyone Im playing who has living relatives.

Colin revealed his shame was added to by the fact that he himself doesnt appreciate expletives. The star confessed the only time he tolerates foul language is when he takes his sons, Luca and Matteo, to soccer games.

However, he thinks that in the context of The Kings Speech, swearing is acceptable because it is for therapeutic reasons.

I dont particularly like hearing swear words - although I hear plenty when I take my boys to soccer matches - but in this context I think its OK, he said. The forbidden words are used to get a guy to break out of extreme repression - it couldnt be a more harmless context. (C) Cover Media
