Popular Kannada actor Darshan's bail application filed in the Bengaluru sessions court was rejected on Tuesday. Exactly a week ago, the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate had rejected his bail plea. With this, he will continue to remain under judicial custody till investigation of his case is complete, say reports.
The judge observed that Darshan's acts were brutal and inhuman - he assaulted his wife Vijayalakshmi for another woman. The court said that though there were no injuries on his son's body, his action of lifting him by his neck attracts Section 307 of IPC.
To support her husband's bail plea, Vijayalakshmi stated before the court that she is considering reconciliation.
However, the court denied bail on grounds that the offence committed by the actor was serious in nature and that he would use influence to derail the ongoing investigations.
The accused is an influential person, and as the investigation is on, he could try to influence the process. Though he is a film star and looked up to by many, he could not learn any morals from his movies, the court said.
Public prosecutor S C Agasimani, argued that Darshan has shown cruelty by inflicting grave injuries to his wife. He said, 'The actor is booked under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, which is very serious in nature.'
