Cult film of 1990 'Aashiqui' completes 25 years today. Featuring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal the film continues to remain popular even today because of its memorable music and remarkable storyline.

Released on July 23, 1990 it was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Gulshan Kumar, Mukesh Bhatt. The music piece which is still hummed by many of us was created by music directors Nadeem-Shravan.

In 1991, the flick bagged 4 Filmfare Awards in the music category. While Nadeem-Shravan were presented with Best Music Director Award, Anuradha Paudwal and Kumar Sanu took home the shining trophies for best playback singing.

In 2013, Mohit Suri created its magic once again on the silver screen and pleased the audience with 'Aashiqui 2' featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.

He says, "I needed to break the image of a director who makes only erotic thrillers, so we decided to name our film Aashiqui 2, as the original was a cult hit."
