'Dabangg 3' in 2016

25th May 2013

Salman Khan's first installment of 'Dabangg' which also marked the debut of Sonakshi Sinha in 2010, broke multiple box office records including the 'highest opening week collections' by a Bollywood film surpassing the previous record set by Aamir Khan's '3 Idiots'. The movie which grossed over 225 crores, also won several awards including the National Film Award for the 'Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment'.

Actor and producer Arbaaz Khan teamed up with his brother Salman and Sonakshi for 'Dabangg 2' once again, and Arbaaz even opted to direct the movie. Despite mixed reviews from the critics, 'Dabangg 2' still managed to open well at the box office and broke the '3-day record' earlier set by 'Ek Tha Tiger' by netting around 58.26 crores at the box office. 'Dabangg 2' also turned out to be the third highest-grossing film in Bollywood.

'Dabangg 2' has so far been one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood, so the speculation in the media were at an all time high when Arbaaz has earlier shared that he was working on the script for the next installment of 'Dabangg'. Looks like there is more clarity of 'Dabangg 3' as Arbaaz has confirmed that he is planning for the third installment of the franchise in 2016.

Three years more, does sound like a long time, and Arbaaz justified the timing by sharing that Salman was currently working on 'Mental', Boney Kapoor's 'No Entry Mein Entry' and has also committed to Sajid Nadiadwala's untitled next. So 'Dabangg 3' shoot schedules would only happen once Salman is done with his prior commitments.

Arbaaz further expressed that although 'Dabangg 2' was a blockbuster, there was still a lot of learning based on the reviews by the critics. Hence, for the next one the production team would ensure that all the details are meticulously planned so the movie is not just a hit among the audiences but the sequel also receives recognition from the critics.

He further added that Salman's nerve problem can also not be overlooked at, and he would rather not overburden his brother at this point with his next, given his tight shoot schedule, and he hopes that Salman would recuperate soon.

So although a few years away, we are sure 'Dabangg 3' will be worth the wait.
