Daniel Craig proud of secret Weisz wedding

18th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Daniel Craig is proud he managed to keep his marriage to Rachel Weisz secret.

The pair have been dating since late last year, and tied the knot in New York last month. There were only four guests at the nuptials, including Daniel's 18-year-old daughter and Rachel's five-year-old son Henry, and the wedding went unreported until several days later.

Daniel is remaining tight-lipped on the topic, insisting the day wasn't about anyone except him and his new bride and will stay that way.

"I did it secretly I can't tell you how I pulled it off," he told Access Hollywood. "My private life is incredibly important to me, and certainly that aspect of it is more than incredibly important to me."

Daniel was happier to discuss his upcoming film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's an adaptation of the first novel in Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy, which is about the unconventional relationship between a journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, and punk computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.

Daniel is Mikael, and believes fans of the series of books will be impressed when they see what the movie has in store.

"I was shocked by [the violence] - and I literally have seen [only] minutes of the movie," he explained. "But in the books, if you read the books, there's this sort of implicit violence that's going through them all the time that makes you turn the page because you're not ever sure what's going to happen next. And it's in the movie. It's there."

Posters for the release show Daniel with his arm around Rooney Mara, who plays Lisbeth. Rooney's character has an edgy hairstyle, piercings and tattoos, and is topless in the image.

"The biggest issue is sex - and it's like, there's nothing offensive about it," Daniel mused. "People have opinions about it, but I think it sort of works as a poster because [Rooney] looks great. I think it sort of really illustrates the two characters in the movie very well." (C) Cover Media
