Daniel Radcliffe: Dancing is tough

19th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Daniel Radcliffe is alright at singing as hes had lessons for three years, but dancing is a different thing.

The British star made his name playing boy wizard Harry Potter in the famous film franchise, the final movie of which is out later this year. In 2008 he appeared in Broadway play Equus, and is currently preparing to return to the stage in the famous New York theatre district.

Daniel will portray the lead role of J. Pierrepont Finch in a remake of 1961 Tony Award-winning musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. The character is a window cleaner who accidentally gets a job in a mailroom at World Wide Wicket Co, before shooting up the corporate ladder. Previews start shortly, and the 21-year-old has discussed his preparation during a photoshoot with US Vogue.

The singing's alright and I've been having lessons for about three years now, he explained.

Dancing is a different thing, my dancing pedigree is very good because my parents were very good dancers. My dad had one of the Northern Ireland ballroom dancing championships when he was about 15 or 16 and my mum won the all England for ballet when she was about 12, and so you would think it would be there in the genes... but it never showed up... [Im] much, much improved.

The photoshoot took place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and Daniel appears in it with several models. He is seen dancing across the boards of the stage as they look on, and in a behind-the-scenes video featured on the publications website, he admits he still struggles to accept where life has taken him.

I'm always very surprised when I find myself at a photoshoot for Vogue, he admits. I'm out here with three indescribably beautiful supermodels and I'm just going, [I'm] 5ft. 5ins. and pale... how on Earth did I get here? (C) Cover Media
