(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Danny Boyle thinks his movies Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours are similar as they are both feel-good films.
The star won the best director Oscar for 2008 movie Slumdog Millionaire about a teen in Mumbai who takes part in a game show, and includes singing and dancing - and is now promoting his new release which stars James Franco. It tells the story of American mountaineer Aron Ralston, who was forced to amputate his lower right arm after becoming trapped whilst canyoneering. The film has already been praised by critics, and is expected to receive an Academy Award nomination.
Although on the surface the two movies appear different, Danny insists they arent a great departure from each other. It was a wonderful contrast in one sense, but similar too. It is a feel good movie, because despite what happens, he does get out of there in the most impossible circumstances and he resurrects life and gets another chance and thats based on this connection, and understanding of how important people are to him, he explained.
Much has been made of the gruesome scene where James depicts Aron amputating his arm, with reports it is so gruesome viewers have passed out. Danny insists it isnt as bad as people assume, adding some watchers have actually cheered throughout it.
There are some people who find it tough. You imagine more than you actually see, you fill it in. With good acting, you do the work, he told the BBC. With a lot of people you push through it, its almost a rite of passage because its his way out of there. Some audiences in America have cheered, theyre all out of their seats. (C) Cover Media
