Michael Bubl feels responsibility to idols

4th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Bubl thinks he has a wonderful responsibility as a recording artist.

The 35-year-old Canadian singer has sold millions of records across the globe, and is celebrated for reinventing the smooth crooning music style of the 1950s.

Michael covers classic hits as well as writing his own music, and the star enjoys both. He feels that by covering old songs he is helping youngsters discover those records, although he adores writing his own pieces too as it allows his to express his creativity.

Im very proud to continue the legacy of my idols. I have a wonderful responsibility to keep this music alive and introduce it to a generation of kids around the world. But I love writing as much as I love interpreting, he explained.

Michael finds it frustrating when people accuse him of simply being a covers guy, as he knows hes far more talented than that. The musician doesnt let critics upset him though, and always has a smart reply for anyone who tries to put him down.

People ask, do I want to move away from being a covers guy and I reply: Do you mean step away from the image of a guy who sells out arenas and millions of records? he told the British edition of OK! magazine. (C) Cover Media
