(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dave Grohl has revealed The Beatles changed his life.
Dave is lead singer in the American rock band Foo Fighters, which also comprises Nate Mendel on bass, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, and drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Throughout his musical career Dave has worked with numerous artists and bands. He is the former drummer for Nirvana and Scream and has also been involved with Queens of the Stone Age. He has also performed session work for a variety of acts, including Tenacious D, Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and Slash.
However, Dave says one particular band helped him understand what it takes to make a group work.
Well, The Beatles definitely changed my life. That was really my musical foundation from day one. Id heard the radio and Id heard the songs, but I never really understood the concept of a group, and how the combination of four different players makes for a specific sound, he told NME.
Although he admits that The Beatles were the first major influence on his career, the singer has also revealed that as his musical tastes changed as he was growing up, so did his influences. The 42-year-old star says that a handful of punk rock bands had a huge impact on his career.
So they were probably my first, and then when I discovered punk rock bands like Black Flag and Bad Brains that really changed my musical life, he added. (C) Cover Media
