David Hasselhoff: I rescue animals

24th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - David Hasselhoff says his home is like a "zoo" because he rescues so many animals.

The kind-hearted actor can't bear to see an animal left without food or shelter. When he and his two daughters 21-year-old Taylor and Hayley, 19 spot a creature in distress they take it home. However, David admits his house is now getting rather crowded with a menagerie of pets.

"I don't really collect a lot of things. I think what my daughters and I collect mostly are pets, we do a lot of rescues. We have like seven dogs and birds and water dragons and snakes," he said in an interview with UK TV show Daybreak. "The house has become like a zoo because we do a lot of rescues."

David is currently dating Welsh beauty Hayley Roberts.

Despite claims last week that the couple had split up, the star is happier than ever. He has proposed to Hayley several times, but she is yet to accept. The 59-year-old has now devised a new plan to convince his girlfriend to marry him.

"I am going to send her one of those cards, you know, instead of doing it in person. Instead of saying happy birthday, it will say, Hi, this is Hasselhoff will you marry me?' You can send those things right to a cell phone," he explained. "We are having a lot of fun."

Hayley, 32, suffered a health scare last week.

She spent three days in hospital after it was feared she had malaria. David was unable to see the former retail sales assistant after she was put in isolation. However, Hayley was discharged from hospital last night and is now being cared for by her mother.

"Aww so nice to be home from hospital. After 3nites there still very weak," she wrote on her Twitter account. "Hopefully get alot better soon to go to USA with David.

"Had infection in my body caused me to be sick and high temperature and fast heartbeat, dizzy, headaches...(sic)." (C) Cover Media
