(Cover) - EN Movies - David Strathairn will join stars such as Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

The historical drama, scheduled for release in 2012, will follow 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln as he guided the Northern States to victory during the Civil War.

David will portray loyal Secretary of State William Seward in the picture, and Steven has praised the 62-year-old star for his powerful acting abilities.

"Throughout his career, David Strathairn has consistently delivered performances of strength and character. That's why I am so pleased that he will portray the Secretary of State, who became such a dominant figure in Lincoln's team of rivals' cabinet," the moviemaker is quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.

Big names who have already been announced in the movie line up include Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Field. Daniel will star as the title character, with Sally taking on the role of his wife Mary Todd Lincoln. (C) Cover Media
