Debra Messing's new romance with Will Chase "didn't seem odd" as they were filming romantic scenes together at the time.

The 43-year-old actress has fallen for Will, who appears alongside her in upcoming NBC show Smash. A source revealed that the pair became an item around six weeks ago.

An on-set insider has now claimed that Will and Debra's relationship happened naturally, as they were shooting romantically-led scenes for Smash.

"They had so many scenes together and they were playing people with a romantic past so it didn't seem odd," a source told People. "Things only really started to heat up between them several weeks ago."

Despite appearing smitten with each other, the source added that the pair haven't discussed their long-term plans just yet.

"This is all very, very new," the insider added.

Debra announced last week that her ten-year marriage to Daniel Zelman had ended but that they remained friends for the sake of their seven-year-old son Roman.

Will recently ended his marriage of two years to stage actress Stephanie Gibson. He has two daughters, Gracie and Daisy, from a previous marriage.

Sources maintain that both marriages were over before their new relationship began.
