'Ek Thi Daayan' loses its steam

24th April 2013

The buzz around filmmaker Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj's first co-production 'Ek Thi Daayan' has always been positive.

Before its release there were talks as to how the team would be able to present this unconventional story in the age of commercial cinema. But post its release, all the doubts were put to rest as the film opened up to overwhelming critic's reviews.

From the story to performances, everything associated with the film was appreciated. But unfortunately, the compliments have not converted into collections as the film lost its steam at the box office.

Despite of all the critical acclaim, the film failed to attract audiences to the theatres. It collected 15.55 crore in its first weekend and the business according to the trade experts is far below expectations.

However, it has managed to break even as it has already recovered the production cost through the box office collection, music, satellite and overseas rights.
