Just when Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj are busy gearing up for their film 'Ek Thi Daayan' to hit the big screens later this month, there is more trouble in the form of controversy which can now be called a snowball effect.
It all started out when Ipsita Roy Chakraverti 'the wiccan priestess' was invited as part of the promotional campaign for the movie. Apparently, Chakraverti, who was not convinced with the manner the witches were portrayed in the movie, filed a petition to the President's office requesting a ban on the movie.
Taking this petition as their baseline, the National Women's Commission has now summoned the filmmakers of 'Ek Thi Daayan'.
Balaji's office has not given any official response to the summons as yet, but based on sources close to the production house, they did acknowledge the same.
Ekta and Vishal are busy with the legal team, outlining the game plan when they appear before the Commission which is expected to take place next week. The two will have to clearly articulate their position on the portrayal of witches in their movie.
This meeting will be extremely crucial for the film, as it will decide the fate of the movie. Besides, the Commission can also opt to watch the movie prior to making a decision which of course could put more pressure on the movie production team to ensure that their plea is in line with their portayal in the movie.
This controversy is certainly adding to the already over-hyped movie, and it could very well help it at the box office once it has been approved to hit the big screens.
