(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Elizabeth Hurley has been cast in Wonder Woman.

The actress-and-model has appeared in films including Bedazzled and Austin Powers, and now the British star has landed a villainous role on American network NBCs TV pilot based on the famous superhero.

Last night, the 45-year-old revealed she was excited to take on the new challenge to her 99,000 followers on Twitter.

Thrilled to be doing the NBC pilot Wonder Woman. Ill be playing the evil villain. Cant wait, she posted on her Twitter page.

A description of Elizabeths new acting part has also been revealed. E! Online reported the mother-of-one will portray the evil character of Veronica Cale who is "beautiful, highly-educated, highly accomplished".

The character runs one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the country, but she has terrible Wonder Woman envy and will stop at nothing to destroy her.

The casting is not yet completely official. According to reports, the stars visa is yet to be granted.

Adrianne Palicki, 27 - who is best known for her role in NBCs Friday Night Lights will star as the heroine. (C) Cover Media
