August 3 so far has been the toughest of the box-office clash as three films clashed with each other. The Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer musical-drama 'Fanney Khan'. Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor starrer courtroom drama 'Mulk' and Dulquer Salmaan, Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar starrer 'Karwaan' a feel-good road-trip comedy.
Although all the film were neck to neck on their opening day but, it was Akarsh Khurana directorial that turned out to be at the top of the table. Karwaan which opened at 1.5 cr almost doubled its tally on the second day with 2.75 cr and a great word of mouth publicity has done the trick here. It made 2.6 cr on Sunday standing ahead of all with a sum of 7.75 cr in the first weekend. Even the film full of starcast could not pull the crowd and Mulk managed to grow slightly but not much.
Both films are close in terms of making money as Fanney Khan made 6.75 cr while Mulk made 6.80 cr in the first weekend. Here is the detailed first-weekend box-office India report of the August 3 releases.
