(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ellen DeGeneres and partner Portia de Rossi have no plans to start a family.
Ellen and actress Portia wed in their home in the summer of 2008 when same-sex marriages were legal in California.
Although the pair are deeply committed to each other, they are not interested in raising children.
"People are constantly asking Portia and me if we are going to have children," Ellen wrote in her book Seriously...I'm Kidding. "We thought about it. We love to be around children after they've been fed and bathed. But we ultimately decided that we don't want children of our own. There is far too much glass in our house."
Child safety issues are not the only consideration Ellen and Portia ruminated over while making their decision. Ellen believes the couple simply have too many other loved ones to look after.
"We have two dogs, Mabel and Wolf, and three cats at home, Charlie, George and Chairman. We have two cats on our farm, Tom and Little Sister, two horses, and two mini horses, Hannah and Tricky. We also have two cows, Holy and Madonna," Ellen wrote. "And those are only the animals we let sleep in our bed."
Ellen's memoir SeriouslyI'm Kidding is in stores across North America now. (C) Cover Media
