(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Official documents have reportedly described Sir Elton John as the father of his and David Furnishs son.

The 63-year-old singer and his 48-year-old partner David welcomed their first child together on Christmas day in California a son named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.

The baby was conceived via surrogate, with Elton and David planning to keep the childs mother out of the spotlight. It is not known whether Elton or David is the babys biological father although Elton has been described as such in documentation, according to a source.

Despite speculation that Mr Furnish, 48, provided the sperm for the surrogacy because he is the younger man, it is 63-year-old Sir Elton who has been recorded as the boys father at the local register office in Los Angeles.

Mr Furnish is listed as the mother in computer documents, an official told the Daily Mail, reported the newspaper.

In initial documents a mother and father are listed, and in certain cases - such as gay surrogacy - a couple can reportedly apply to have an official certificate produced labelling both parents as Parent 1 and Parent 2.

It is unlikely fans will ever discover who Zacharys real father is though, as it is believed the couple have promised each other they will never divulge the information. Elton and David consider themselves to be an equally important part of Zacharys future, and see no need to make distinctions.

A source has told British newspaper The Sun that the pair may tell their son the identity of his biological father in the future, should he ask.

David and Elton made a pact that they are equal parents - no one will ever know who the biological father is, explained the source.
