The actress once played Audrey Hepburn in a TV movie before making the switch to the silver screen on Songcatcher, which won her a good deal of praise.

Next year she will appear as William H. Macys daughter in a US adaption of British TV comedy Shameless a show about working class life.

Emmy - real name Emmanuelle Grey Rossum - believes her acting will be considered important in years to come. She added the job, which will see her play Fiona Gallagher, has pleased her greatly.

[I choose] to work on material that inspires me; where I feel like I can add something to the world, even if just a little bit, she told USA Today. This is the happiest Ive been in my whole life.

The beautiful star disapproves of how many females are treated in the film industry. Emmy, 24, thinks challenging roles are hard to come by for females, and worries young actresses get forced into a narrow amount of genres.

Hollywood doesnt provide you with tons of opportunities as a woman, she lamented. I don't want to go run around in my underwear and be chased by a guy with a knife. When you're 22 and 23, there's not much that's not either, like, silly teen comedies or horror movies. (C) Cover Media
