'English Vinglish' shinning bright

Fifteen years have passed by since she last appeared on-screen, but still, all eyes are on her as she makes her comeback with 'English Vinglish' that will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi

Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 14th September, this year, it marks the directorial debut of Gauri Shinde, wife of film-maker R. Balki who has also produced the movie.

The film stars Sridevi, Adil Hussain, Mehdi Nebbou, and Priya Anand. The film is also scheduled to be a part of the highly coveted Galas' section for a world premier.

The movie is the story of a woman's struggle with the English language and the insecurities she faces because of it. Shot mostly in New York, it captures her transformational journey.

R. Balki says, "The whole team is thrilled that our film has been chosen in the ‘Galas’ section for a world premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival. It’s an honor when your film is being showcased alongside films by Billy Bob Thornton, Roger Michell, Robert Redford, Mike Newell, Ben Affleck and Mira Nair. Gauri and I are personally very excited. And hope the world cheers the comeback of Sridevi- India’s only true pan Indian female superstar."

The film has music by Amit Trivedi, lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, sound by Resul Pookutty, cinematography by Laxman Utekar and editing by Hemanti Sarkar.

It is produced by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, R. Damani, Sunil Lulla and R. Balki and written and directed by Gauri Shinde.
