Failure was the stepping stone for HNY stars

20th October 2014

The basic crux of filmmaker Farah Khan's upcoming film 'Happy New Year' is based on the old English saying that 'Failure is the stepping stone towards success'. The trailer too promotes the notion that in life, everyone gets that one chance which can change the whole life for good.

And the film's stars too confess that at some point of their life, they have all gone through the same phase. Film's only female lead Deepika Padukone who is an epitome of success in Bollywood right now confesses that she had gone through a rough patch as a teenager.

"I was never academically inclined. When friends around me were topping my class, it was a 'loser' moment for me. However, instead of letting it discourage me, I decided to work harder and succeed in a field that I was interested in," said Deepika.

Her co-star from the film, Abhishek Bachchan, too talked about the worst phase of his life. "At the start of my career, no matter what I did in films, it didn't seem to click with the audience. There was a low point when I actually went up to my father and told him that I may have made the wrong decision by becoming an actor. He said, 'I didn't raise you to be a quitter. Get back into the ring and fight. I've seen your work and you're improving with every film.' That gave me a lot of confidence and a few weeks later, I signed a film which I believe changed my life - Yuva," he added.

Their captain, Farah who has directed them in this film shared her journey with failure. "In college, I had auditioned for the musical, Grease, as a back-up dancer and was rejected. I sobbed for a week but looking back, I think if I had been selected, I wouldn't have the fire to prove myself and become a choreographer," she stated.

Now as they say 'Experience' is the best teacher, these stars have surely learnt their lessons well.
