Fincher to produce Depression biopic

29th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - David Fincher is to produce a biopic of celebrated Great Depression era photographer Dorothea Lange.

Dorothea's pictures during the poverty stricken time in the US were so iconic, John Steinbeck was said to have used them as his inspiration for his famous novel The Grapes of Wrath.

According to Variety, the film will detail her triumph "to capture iconic images of unemployed workers and dispossessed farmers during the Great Depression".

Leslie Dektor is on board to direct the movie, with David [Fincher] joining David Ginsberg on producing duties.

Meanwhile, Se7en director David is putting the finishing touches to his eagerly awaited remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The star of the film, Daniel Craig, recently revealed that the director wasn't holding back from the book's grisly tone.

"It's as adult as you can possibly make it. This is adult drama. I grew up... watching The Godfather and that, movies that were made for adults," said Daniel.

"And this is a 100 million dollar R-rated movie. Nobody makes those any more. And Fincher, he's not holding back." (C) Cover Media
