FIR against John Abraham starrer 'Satyameva Jayate'

5th July 2018

After 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran', John Abraham's next is 'Satyamev Jayate' along with Manoj Bajpayee and even before the film releases an FIR has been filed by a BJP leader. Reports confirm that BJP leader has filed an FIR against John's film for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Shia community. The complaint has been filed in Hyderabad by BJP minority Front General Secretary Syed Ali Jafri.

In the context of Satyamev Jayate's official trailer, Syed said, "There is one shot in the trailer which shows the festival of Muharram and it depicts a scene of Matam (self-flagellation). The actor is later shown committing a murder following Matam. This has hurt our sentiments." The BJP leader requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to cut that particular scene from the film.

A lawyer involved in the matter said to the leading daily, "Our concerns are that the movie's plot is based on corruption. The makers could have very well completed the film without having a scene with the Muharram procession. The movie's plot has nothing to do with Muharram. All these things are outraging religious feelings of a particular sect."

The film is directed by Milap Zaveri and it is slated to release on August 15, 2018, along with the Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold'.
