Florence Welch starting hanging around with "bizarre people" after her parents' divorce.

The British songstress admits she struggled to cope with her mother and father's split. The star rebelled after learning the news as a teenager.

"After the divorce of my parents, when I was 14, I started drinking. I was full of anger. I just wanted a normal family and suddenly the family no longer existed," she explained in an interview with Gioia magazine.

"I lost all inhibitions and started to do strange things. I ran naked through my middle-class neighbourhood of London. I went out to go to parties, I was getting drunk and going [out] with bizarre people."

Florence only stopped drinking while taking part in U2's 360 tour in North America in June. The singer says her wild ways were affecting her music.

"When I went on tour with U2 I stopped drinking. It was due to the respect for the public and the profession," she said.

"If I didn't have the music I would be totally lost."
