January 6, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): This is not something that the Indian television audience is used to seeing often. If reports are to be believed, a gay couple from the city of Lucknow made it to the auditions of the TV dance reality show Dance India Dance and performed so well that the judges could hardly believe that one among them was a boy! Mahesh Tamang and Rahul are the couple in question and it was Mahesh who was dressed in the girls costume for his performance in the Dance India Dance platform.

Reports from the sets of the television show claimed that there were a couple of men sitting and watching the beautiful dance movements of Mahesh Tamang and literally fantasizing her, little did they know that the girl would emerge as a boy named Mahesh Tamang! And Mahesh was not the only contestant in the Dance India Dance audition to be dressed as a girl, a boy named Pankaj performed to the song of the year Munni Badnaam Hui in the Jaipur auditions of Dance India Dance. The judges were more than happy with their dances and these gay men will definitely find their way into the top performers list, assured Geeta Kapoor, one of the sitting judges.

The presence of gay boys and couples in an Indian dance reality show surely shows that the Indian society is fast progressing and nurtures mental blocks no more towards same sex couples in the society.
