George Clooney: Acting is better than politics

6th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Clooney has no plans to run for US President, insisting acting is far more "fun".

The star plays a presidential candidate in new movie The Ides of March, which he also directed and co-wrote. Even though his father was involved in politics, George has ruled himself out of running for office.

"No - I'd run from [it]," the actor replied during a Time magazine's 10 Questions interview when asked if he would consider a political career. "I don't have to compromise. I get to say that, I think that what's going on in the North-South is bad,' and I don't have to worry that the Chinese would be upset or the Russians will be upset. My job is much more fun."

George attended the premiere of The Ides of March in New York City on Wednesday evening.

The 50-year-old heartthrob took two dates to the red carpet event his parents Nick and Nina Clooney.

"I do [have two dates] my mom and dad," George explained, before teasing his mother. "My mom I don't want to say it, but she's really drunk, so try not to talk to her. She slurs and stuff comes out of her mouth it's really bad."

The star has been spending a lot of time in New York City recently, promoting his new drama. George loves it there and is thrilled with his latest visit.

"Well, what's everybody's love affair with New York? It's one of the great cities in the world, literally," he smiled. "New York is one of those cities that belongs to the whole world. So I just love being here." (C) Cover Media
