(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Clooney has put down rumours he plans to bring a "new girl" to the upcoming Venice Film Festival.

George split from former girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis in June. The break-up has been publicised all over the world ever since and George is not happy with what is being said. The actor is bemused by reports that he is planning to unveil a new love interest, and says he has never claimed such a thing.

He says suggestions he is bringing a "new girl" to the prestigious movie event, which will be held between August 31 and September 10, are "a ridiculous lie".

While George insists he has no new love interest to speak of, his ex Elisabetta has been seen flirting with her ex-boyfriend Angelo Vita of late, although no official romance has been confirmed.

George yesterday made his first official appearance since splitting from the Italian beauty. The actor was pictured in Cancun, Mexico at a photocall for his new movie The Ides of March. (C) Cover Media
