George Michael is making good progress as he recovers from a recent bout of pneumonia.
The 48-year-old fell ill in Austria last month and developed a secondary breathing condition leading him to be treated in intensive care.
But his doctor in Vienna has said that the former Wham frontman is "doing well" but wouldn't say if he could go home for Christmas.
"We know that he is doing well and we are generally optimistic," his physician Christoph Zielinski told state broadcaster ORF today.
He stated that whether George is allowed to go back to London for the holidays "is something that we are not in the position to decide."
"That is something that must be decided in consultation with the patient."
George has been receiving care in Vienna after falling ill and cancelling a scheduled performance in the city in November.
He was forced to postpone the rest of his Symphonica world tour after his hospitalisation.
