Giuliana Rancic had to assure people she wasn't a "robot" after she returned to work soon after her breast cancer diagnosis.

The E! News host discovered she had the disease after deciding to undergo in vitro fertilisation for the third time. She had a double lumpectomy but opted to resume duties on the entertainment channel five days later.

Many people were astounded by Giuliana's decision.

"People are like, Are you a robot?' I'm like, Not last time I checked.' You know what it was? It was just nice to get back to work because it took my mind off of it. I love work, I've been here at E! now for ten years this spring which is incredible. E! has always been a place where I found a lot of happiness and great things have happened to me here so it was really nice about a week after the surgery, to come back and just get back in the swing of things. Ryan Seacrest making fun of me every night it was easy to get distracted by that," she laughed.

Giuliana's husband Bill Rancic has been supporting her throughout her ordeal. Bill won the first season of US TV show The Apprentice, which is where Giuliana first saw him. She was immediately attracted to Bill, and has described their first meeting.

"I kind of stalked him a little bit. When an interview came up at E! I punched and elbowed everyone out of the way including some of the male reporters who were after him and I just eight months later, after that interview, we were engaged," she told Australia's Kyle and Jackie O radio show.
