The highly anticipated Akshay Kumar flick Gold's official teaser is finally out and it showcases the incredible true journey of India winning an Olympic gold in 1948 London Olympics. The teaser begins with Akki saying, "Hum ek pagal Bengali hai, hum hockey se pyaar karta hai" and further the teaser is all about madness, eagerness, courage and passion to make India win a Gold Medal as a free independent nation. Set in the backdrop of vintage India during 1946 and the teaser has an extremely patriotic tagline that says "Abhi tak India chup tha. Ab hum log bolega aur duniya sunega."

Directed by Reema Kagti, the film also stars Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar and Mouni Roy in the major roles. Shoot for the film wrapped up in December last year. Moreover, 'Gold' is Mouni Roy's Bollywood debut while Akshay Kumar is all set for his upcoming film PadMan, co-produced by wife Twinkle Khanna.

Earlier reports claimed that Gold is a biopic based on former hockey player Balbir Singh Sr but in an interview, producer Ritesh Sidhwani denied it being a biopic. Clarifying the matter he said, "It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey. It is not based on any character."
