Director Tarun Gopi said that in whole of India, there are good actors only in Tamil Nadu. He while speaking to the media said,” In my initial stages I had worked as an assistant to Upendra, Manoj Kumar, Senthil Nathan and Prabhu Deva. For the first time I had directed the film Thimiru which had Vishal and Shreya Reddy in the lead roles. This film was a hit. Later on I directed the film Silambattam which had Simbu in the lead role. At that point of time Rasu Madhuravan made me act in the film Maayandi Kudumbathar. I had acted in this film since the story was good. The best directors and actors are there only in Tamil Nadu. But we get the awards very delayed. They have given Dadasaheb Phalke Award to the ace director K Balachandar only now. They should have given this award at the time when he completed the film Thaneer Thaneer. I will never forget the culture of Tamil Nadu in the films I act or direct. Currently I am acting in a film titled Pechiakka.”
