(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling have refused to confirm they are dating.

The Hollywood actors appear in new movie Blue Valentine together, and much has been made of their passionate on-screen chemistry. For months rumours have been flying around that the pair are an item, although as yet nothing has been confirmed.

Michelle and Ryan recorded an interview with ABC News Nightline which aired yesterday, and host Cynthia McFadden decided to ask the stars outright if they are dating.

In response to the question, Michelle and Ryan gazed at each other, before Ryan whistled to act as though he hadnt heard the question while Michelle simply smiled. The actor then put his arm around Michelle and shook his head, replying no. However, the mysterious smile on his face forced Cynthia to respond: I dont believe that.

Later the actor tried to prove he had been telling the truth by joking that he has a shady type of face.

"I always look like I'm lying. It's just that's my face," he laughed.

The actor did refer to his co-star as a sexy cowboy during the interview, adding fuel to the romance speculation.

The pair first sparked rumours they were a couple when they were spotted together at the Sundance Film Festival in January. They also appeared close at the Blue Valentine screening at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in May.

The movie follows a contemporary married couple by charting their evolution over a number of years. (C) Cover Media
