January 18, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Aretha Franklin wants the Oscar winner Halle Berry to portray her in the biopic that is planned to be adapted from the autobiography 'Aretha:From These Roots'. The plan was on for a long time now to adapt the life of the American legendary singer into films but its only recently that things have started to fall into the right places.

The soul legend while is still recovering from an illness thats still undisclosed confirmed the news that the penning for the film has started and the production house is ready to get her approval. Franklin goes on to say that while the actress to portray the young Aretha is still under consideration, she picks Berry to be the older Aretha.

However, Halle has said that someone must state to Aretha Franklin that she wont be able to pull off that role. The 44-year old actress goes on to state that she wont be able to get the tune right and is not comfortable to tackle the role that demands to be musical.

Aretha said that for last four years various offers have come her way to make her autobiography into a film, but its only last year that she has started working with the movie bosses for it. The financing for the project is also good and is on the table according to the pianist and singer.
