Karisma Kapoor, often informally addressed to as Lolo, turns 39 today. Born in the Kapoor family to parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita, Karisma started her acting debut from the movie 'Prem Qaidi' when she was just seventeen.
But the turning point in her life was when she earned her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the movie 'Raja Hindustani', which was her biggest commercial success, and later she received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the romantic drama 'Dil to Pagal Hai'.
Karisma went on to playing the lead in the critically acclaimed projects 'Fiza' and 'Zubeidaa', for which she won the Best Actress and Best Actress (Critics) trophies at the Filmfare ceremony.
During her career, Lolo has received one National Film Award and four Filmfare Awards, amoung six nominations.
Besides films, Karisma has also been a part of television and also featured as a judge in reality shows.
The actress was last seen onscreen in the movie 'Bombay Talkies' where she did a special appearance in the song 'Apna Bombay Talkies'.
Karisma Kapoor has a younger sister, Kareena Kapoor who is also in the film industry and is married to Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Karisma is married to Sanjay Kapoor, and the couple have two children.
Having done so much, Karisma Kapoor has established herself as one of the leading actresses of Hindi cinema.
