Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will be celebrating her 34th birthday today.

Vidya Balan was born on 1st Jan 1978 to P. R Balan

Vidya Balan debuted on the big screen in 2003 with "Bhalo Theko" a Bengali film. Balan entered bollywood with "Parineeta" for which she earned the Best Female Debut Filmfare award. She received her first commercial success with "Lage Raho Munna Bhai"  in which she starred opposite Sanjay Dutt. Vidya has worked in movies such as "Guru", "Heyy Babyy" and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa".  Her performance in "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" earned her another Filmfare nomination.

Vidya Balan's role as the mother of a child with progeria in "Paa",  won her the Best Actress Filmfare award.

Her role in the film "Ishqiya", was highly praised and received rave reviews for her performance.

 Vidya Balan did her first real-life character as Sabrina Lal in "No One Killed Jessica", a biopic of Jessical Lal murder case. Her latest release "The Dirty Picture" was a box office success. "The Dirty Picture" is a biopic on the life of South Indian actress Silk Smitha. In this film Vidya played the title role of silk Smitha, a south indian film actress who rose to fame in the 80's in the south indian film industry, but faced setbacks to her proffessional and personal life leading to her suicide.
