(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Helena Bonham Carter says people like you more if you lose.

The actress lost out on an Academy Award for best supporting actress at this year's Oscars. She was nominated for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in The King's Speech, which picked up an impressive four gongs including best director, best picture, best screenplay and best actor for Colin Firth.

Helena, 44, believes that its not the winning that counts as she feels more popular after missing out on an Academy Award.

To be honest, I do think people like you more if you lose. Thats my theory, the actress told BBC News.

The British actress who was also nominated for a best actress Academy Award for her role as Kate Croy in 1997 film The Wings of the Dove - says that its natural to feel disappointed if you lose. However, she realises there are other talented nominees who failed to win and feels she is in good company.

To be honest, you always have a little dip, but then you get over it, she added. You can see other losers, and you look at the other losers and theres Michelle Williams, theres Amy Adams youre in a good club.

The coveted best supporting actress prize went to Melissa Leo for her role in The Fighter, which was also honoured with a best supporting actor award for Christian Bale. (C) Cover Media
