Hilary Duff and her husband Mike Comrie became "proud parents" of a healthy baby boy this week.

The 24-year-old actress and her husband of 18 months Mike are overjoyed to have welcomed son Luca Cruz Comrie into the world.

Hilary gave birth to Luca on March 20 and the infant is very healthy.

"Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie! Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy (sic)," Hilary posted on Twitter Thursday.

Hilary and Mike are elated with parenthood thus far and look forward to spoiling Luca with love throughout his life.

"We are overjoyed and feel like the luckiest parents in the world," Hilary wrote. "He is surrounded by so much love!! Mom and baby are both doing extremely well."

Hilary has spoken previously about how eager she was to greet her new baby.

"People keep saying to me, 'Sleep right now. Get your sleep!' " Hilary laughed to Us Weekly magazine late last year.

"I keep saying, 'I just want the baby here! I want to play and I'm ready to see what he looks like.'"
