(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hilary Swank wont work on a film unless she has a month to prepare for it.
The 36-year-old actress has won two Oscars playing notoriously difficult parts. In 1999 movie Boys Dont Cry she played the lead role in the true story of transgender Brandon Teena, who was raped and murdered in Nebraska in 1993. 2004s Million Dollar Baby saw her portray an amateur boxer propelled into the professional ranks.
Due to these commanding performances, Hilary has managed to gain critical and commercial success within her field. Speaking to Total Film magazine the star explained she refuses to reduce the intensity she puts into her roles as it would only be a disservice to the character she is playing.
I wont take a movie if I dont at least have four straight weeks to prepare. Thats the minimum but I prefer to have eight weeks or even more. Were all multifaceted, there are so many layers to who we are and understanding those different facets in each character you play is hopefully what will make the character the most complete and human on screen, she said.
